Asset Manager

Cal has more than 40 years experience in the real estate investment and development field.  His experience as an analyst, developer and acquisitions executive has focused primarily on multi-family, office, retail and hospitality asset types.  While Chicago has been his home base, Cal has been active throughout the United States and the Caribbean.  Significant recent assignments prior to joining the Ascend team include the acquisition of the Yacht Haven Marina in St Thomas, the turnaround underwriting on two major timeshare companies and the due diligence for a mixed use hospitality development in southeast Michigan.

Cal has also held senior positions within the hospitality development sector. Most recently he served on the senior management committee as the SVP Business Development for Shell Vacations, and was instrumental in its successful turnaround and ultimate sale to Wyndham Resorts.  As CEO for Divi Resorts, Cal designed and implemented a successful post-bankruptcy turn-around operational plan for the timeshare, casino and lodging company after being recruited by a major shareholder.

Cal received his BA in Economics with a concentration in Finance from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana). He also holds an Illinois Managing Real Estate Broker license.
